Sweet Geezus, I love me some Nip/Tuck. Do you watch? Are you a fan? Back in the spring I took a chance and rented season one. I'd heard the show was good. I had no idea. I was hooked from episode one. I got my roommate hooked too. We become two Nip/Tuck watching fools. Naturally, when we ran out of episodes to watch, all we wanted was for season two to come out on DVD. Well, my friends, my dear sweet lovely friends - season two is out! My (now ex) roommate and I got together on Friday night to dig into season two. Every episode just has some great hook and there's something that gets you every time. I think we watched 5 or 6 episodes back-to-back. I have to tell you (if you watch it that is) - Little Wilbur pulls at my heartstrings. Let's just say on the last episode we watched, I shed a tear or two. Yes, yes I did. Such drama, great laughs. What a show! What a show! I'm so hooked that I wanted to have all 16 episodes watched by the 19th - then I wanted to talk my roommates into getting cable so that I could watch the season premire on the 20th. How can I wait a year (or longer) for the next season to be available on DVD. That just isn't fair. You need to watch. Go out, rent season one, disc one, and start watching.
Well, I'm 21 now. The big 2-1. I was going to wait until all the "celebrating" was over before I posted a recap of the events and how I felt. I don't intend to use this particular blog as a journal, but I'm in such a great mood, I had to share. The last few days - maybe even the last few weeks - have been SUCH a challenge. You have no idea really. Wednesday was just terrible and so I wasn't looking forward to Thursday (my birthday) very much. Thursday rolled around, I went to class. I got a couple "Happy Birthday!" text messages and calls. When I got out of class I got a call from a friend of mine back on the East Coast, and it was a great surprise! A friend of mine found out I wasn't doing anything that night, so she and her roommate took me out to dinner. I had such fun and I got to know her roommate a bit and I like her a lot, so that was nice! We laughed a lot and I needed that. Today, I was still feeling a bit exhausted from days past. I mean, I was really feeling it - emotionally, physically. I was just not on top of my game. I hung out with one of my best friends and we did a couple of general things. My mom decided a couple days back that this birthday COULD NOT pass without some sort of party, so she decided to have one, and my friend accompanied me to the place where it was going to be so we could check things out. Now, you see, this place was/is the house of some old family friends of ours. I spent more time at their house growing up than I did at my own! But, mostly because of a move my mom and I made about 5 years ago, we weren't in constant contact with this family - not like we were before, everyday for the 12 years of my life before that move. So my friend and I arrive at the house and from the moment I start walking up the stairs all this history started rushing back to me. The people who lived there were basically my family for 12 years (from 4 years old to about 16 years old). The kids were my brothers and sisters, as real as any that would have been related to me. I saw three of the 4 kids and there were shrieks and hugs. We sat and talked about old memories and people we used to know. When I got in my friend's car and we drove off, I just started crying...I mean, uncontrollable, unexpected crying. Occasionally I brag about the fact that I had just about the best childhood any kid ever had - and the majority of the memories I have stem from that house and that family. As I was crying I was telling my friend, "Imagine not seeing your brother for 5 years, not even on holidays!" That was kind of what this was like. So suddenly being in that house where I spent several hours a day, virtually every day of my life from 4 years old to 16 years old - I think it all just overwhelmed me. And it made me really happy. I mean really happy. I repeated 'Im really happy' a thousand times I'm sure and remained that way all through dinner to this very moment. At dinner I regretted not going back to visit them earlier ( I did stop by about a year or so ago, but none of the kids were at the house then). However, I used to be, and still try to be, a person who thinks everything happens for a reason. I mean, even on the drive there I was just not feeling very good or very happy. Then seeing all of them was just magic - or something! Crying in the car after (and yes, crying as I wrote this post) and then feeling that after-cry-emptiness where you've let go of a lot of stress - I just feel so much better, genuinely happy, and I strongly believe that things happened the way they did today for a very specific purpose.

You know, I've been feeling kind of down lately. It's almost 2 PM and I've already taken 4 naps today!
So I thought, "what does Mister Rogers have to say today?" (I'm a few days behind on the old calendar).
A ministry doesn't have to be only through a church, or even through an ordination. And I think we all can minister to others in this world by being compassionate and caring. I hope you will feel good enough about yourselves that you will want to minister to others, and that you will find your own unique ways to do that.

For the next five years, scold them. By the time they turn sixteen,... Source..

I figure that since this blog is brand new , no one really knows me or much about me (except that I have an incredibly long list of goals). It's weird to think that no one really reads this blog. I kind of feel like I'm talking to no one. After having a LiveJournal for 4 years, I know that even if no one comments on a post, at least one or two people read it.
Anyway, on LJ and in various blogs, I've seen the "100 Things About Me." I'm not sure I can come up with 100 things right now, so I will come up with as many as I can, and then update this post in the future, and continue to update it until it has 100 things on it.
